Safest First Cars: 5-Star Euro NCAP
Safety rating and insurance group are two different things, a 5-star car can still land in a high group if the engine or power output pushes it there. These five happen to be both: the full 5 stars in Euro NCAP testing, and low UK insurance groups (1 to 5), so a genuinely safer first car doesn't have to mean a scarier premium.
Prices below are current UK asking prices, checked 6 August 2026, not a fixed number: they move with the market. Insurance group and price both depend on the exact registration year and engine, not just the model name, so always confirm both for the specific car you're looking at (see why that is).
