What First Car Scout does
First Car Scout is a free tool that helps parents and new drivers find a safe, affordable
first car in the UK. Rather than comparing purchase price alone, it works out what a car will
actually cost to run each month, insurance, fuel, servicing and road tax combined, because for
a new driver insurance is often the single biggest and least predictable cost. Connect an AI
assistant to the endpoint above and it can search First Car Scout's live catalogue and real
cost estimates for you, right inside the conversation.
Search
Find a shortlist of real cars
Give it the driver's age, where they live and a budget, plus whether their licence is manual, automatic or not passed yet (this changes the insurance estimate). It searches First Car Scout's live, curated UK catalogue and returns a ranked shortlist with monthly running costs, safety and reliability, and why each car was picked.
Refine
Tell it what matters more
Say something like “safety matters more to us than brand” or “running cost matters more than reliability” and it re-ranks the same shortlist around that trade-off.
Correct
Update the driver's licence details
If the licence type or how long ago the test was passed was wrong or assumed, it corrects that and re-prices the same cars, since insurance is the cost this changes the most for a new driver.

Email the shortlist
Ask it to email the list to you and give an email address, and it sends the shortlist and saves it so you can return to it later. It only ever does this when you explicitly ask and provide an address.
Try it
Once connected, you can ask an AI assistant things like:
- “Find me a safe first car under £6,000 for an 18-year-old in Cardiff.”
- “I need a cheap-to-insure automatic for a 17-year-old who just passed their test, budget £5,000, we're in Manchester.”
- “Safety matters more to us than brand, can you refine that list?”
- “Can you email me that shortlist?”
