1. Who we are

First Car Scout is a trading name of Awen AI Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11653307). Our registered office is 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. You can contact us at info@firstcarscout.com.

By using our website, our Scout List tools or our app inside an AI assistant (together, the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What the Service does

The Service helps first-time drivers and their families shortlist used cars. It uses details you give us, such as the driver's age, area, budget and preferences, to estimate monthly running costs and to rank cars by cost, safety and reliability.

The Service is free to use. Any paid service will be described, with its price and its own terms, before you buy it.

3. Our figures are estimates

• Insurance figures are estimates for a typical driver with the details you gave. They are not quotes and we do not sell insurance. Your real price will depend on the insurer and on details we do not know.
• Fuel, tax and servicing figures are estimates based on published data and typical use.
• Prices are taken from used car listings at a point in time. A car may already be sold, or its price may have changed.
• Safety ratings and reliability scores come from third-party sources and our own scoring. They are a guide, not a guarantee.

We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Nothing in the Service is financial, insurance, legal or motoring-safety advice.

4. Check a car before you buy it

We cannot inspect a car. A recommendation is not a statement that a particular car is in good condition, has a clean history or is right for you. Before buying, check the car's history, MOT record and service history, have it inspected, and confirm the insurance cost with an insurer. The decision to buy is yours.

5. Using First Car Scout inside an AI assistant

If you use First Car Scout inside an AI assistant such as ChatGPT, the assistant company runs the assistant and is responsible for how it uses your conversation. We only receive the details the assistant sends to our tools to run your search. If you ask to have your list emailed, we receive the email address you give for that purpose.

An AI assistant may summarise or reword our results. Where that happens, our own results and the page they link to are the record of what we recommended. How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

6. Young drivers

The Service is designed to be used by families. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian, and only give us your details with their knowledge.

7. Using the Service properly

Please do not:

• use the Service unlawfully or to harm others;
• copy our data in bulk, or use automated tools to collect it, without our written permission;
• try to interfere with the Service, or get around its security;
• give us false details to mislead us or anyone else.

8. Our content

The Service, including our scoring, text, design and logo, belongs to Awen AI Ltd or its licensors. You may use it for your own personal use in choosing a car. Car names and manufacturer marks belong to their owners and are used only to identify cars.

9. Our responsibility to you

We take care to make the Service accurate, but we cannot promise it is always available or free of errors. We are not responsible for a loss caused by relying on an estimate, or by a decision to buy or not buy a car, to the extent the law allows us to say so.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your legal rights.

10. Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms and the Service from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also use the courts there.
